Nothing iconic about wasting fuel, Holden or Ford
Was it just clever design for vacant lots and cupidity–
Australia and America are biggish continents anyway
Maybe people value efficiency more, now and then.
We may remember Smithy and the Southern Cross
And celebrate women taking to the skies.
But now we need many alternative industries
And respect for elders, how they cared for country.
Using several tiers of government is not a novel idea.
And do we need a new constitution?
I felt moved to agree with Stan Grant last night –
Acknowledging “them and us” is pretty offensive.
We’re all in this old boat. We paddle together.
