Secondly, our town\u2019s economy has been blasted away<\/p>\n\n\n\n
by the corona virus regulations. Whatever does the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
shire, or for that matter the state, suggest for our town<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to reinvigorate tourism along the Great Ocean Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once thriving businesses now mendicant on hand-outs?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sorry, but the Port of Apollo Bay is not the entire game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
May I suggest the Premier and Chamber of Commerce<\/p>\n\n\n\n
devise a sustainable<\/em> long-term marketing strategy eg:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Visit Apollo Bay and make us your destination!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This could feature all our attractions — surf, waterfalls<\/p>\n\n\n\n sea, rivers and the beauty of the Otway rainforest;<\/p>\n\n\n\n our fine dining spots and accommodation facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stay a fortnight and explore it all for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Read up on Donald Walker\u2019s amazing stories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not long ago the township rehashed its services to deal<\/p>\n\n\n\n with 5-minute lunch stops for huge tourist buses<\/p>\n\n\n\n flying along the Great Ocean Road to see the 12 apostles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Surely we have matured<\/em> since those bad days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We need a more sustainable plan, taking advantage <\/p>\n\n\n\n of our excellent information centre on the foreshore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We offer much more than cheap thrills and trinkets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We offer unique beauty and opportunities for study: <\/p>\n\n\n\n -exploring healthy rainforest, waterfalls, glow worms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We have unique plants we ignore, a botanical garden <\/p>\n\n\n\n that needs no gymnastics to recreate, just adequate <\/p>\n\n\n\n protection<\/em>. What about history!
